The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Teaser Debuts, Revealing New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo alongside Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. It was showcased in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that centered on the forthcoming animated feature.
Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will propel Mario to the outer limits of the universe. In his journey, he meets a fresh princess character and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
An Interstellar Journey Based on Classic Games
In the vein of the Wii console classics that act as its source material, Mario will venture away from the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a breakout star from the previous film.
But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's angry little boy, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Notably, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also contains hints to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Returns and Expands
The film will see the return of the original voice cast, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. It was announced by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
Mario's Major Moment
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is set to release near the 40th anniversary of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.
Nintendo confirmed a set of three fresh titles already confirmed for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
