The Prince of Wales Set to Attend COP30 Climate Summit in Brazil
Prince William will represent the United Nations climate conference in Brazil next month, according to palace sources.
The father and son duo made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a gathering leading up to the environmental conference, which is set to be held in the northern Brazilian city of Belem.
The royal pair were present at the Natural History Museum reception, marking an noteworthy combined presence at a climate summit preparatory event arranged together with the British authorities.
Climate Leadership Dedication
The King has been a consistent supporter of environmental conservation - and Prince William has taken on the baton, with his own climate innovation awards, which will be held in Brazil ahead of the COP summit.
Palace insiders have portrayed William's involvement at the upcoming climate summit as taking on an important role in "global climate discussions".
Recent Engagements
The monarch and his heir, arriving together in the royal vehicle, were introduced to attendees such as conservation experts, scientists, climate change campaigners, foreign representatives and government officials.
This engagement involved presentations together with President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other international figures at the Marine Economy Conference in Monaco during the current year.
Earthshot Awards Connection
The climate conference will align with the prince's own climate innovation prizes, which will conclude in Rio de Janeiro the previous day he attends the COP summit on the sixth of November.
Last week the prince referred to the Earthshot finalists as "modern-day pioneers".
Monarch's Environmental Record
King Charles has been a prominent presence at past COP meetings, delivering the inaugural speech in the United Arab Emirates for COP28, including the observation: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".
"I have spent a large proportion of my life trying to raise awareness about the survival risks facing us over global warming, environmental shifts and species extinction," the sovereign addressed delegates.
